I DO MAKE PROVISIONS IN MY CONTRACT TO GUARANTEE THE HEALTH OF THE PUPPY. THESE PROVISIONS INCLUDE LIFE THREATENING DISORDERS. I ALLOW YOU AMPLE TIME TO HAVE YOUR VET EXAMINE THE PUPPY FOR SUCH HEALTH ISSUES. IF AN ISSUE IS FOUND BY YOUR VET I INSIST THAT I BE NOTIFIED SO THAT I CAN BE IN CONTROL OF MY BREEDING PROGRAM AS WELL AS MAKE THE NECESSARY DECISIONS INVOLVED REGARDING THE PUPPY.

STRESS AND DEPRESSION IN A NEW PUPPY IS COMMON EVEN FOR A HEALTHY PUPPY FOR THE FIRST COUPLE DAYS AND MAY RESULT IN A SICK PUPPY THAT NEEDS VET CARE...ESPECIALLY IN THE TINY TOY BREED DOGS. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO HANDLE THE EXTRA CARE SHOULD THIS SITUATION OCCUR. I KEEP MY PUPPIES MUCH LONGER THAN NORMALLY REQUIRED IN AN EFFORT TO EASE THE STRESS; HOWEVER, SOMETIMES IT JUST HAPPENS ANYWAY AND IS OUT OF MY CONTROL. THIS HOWEVER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A REASON FOR A REFUND, BUT REQUIRES MORE RESPONSIBILITY ON THE PART OF THE NEW PARENT. I AM ALWAYS AVAILABLE FOR ADVISE AND INSIST THAT YOU CALL ME IF YOUR PUPPY GETS SICK. I WILL DO ALL I POSSIBLY CAN TO ASSIST YOU IF THIS SHOULD OCCUR.

I am a very responsible breeder with an excellent rating from AKC. My babies live in a custom built, environmentally controlled home. The puppies are well socialized, loved and spoiled. I encourage you to visit me or any breeder prior to purchasing a puppy to make sure you are satisfied with the surroundings and the breeder. I sell to approved parents only. My puppies are sold with a contract guaranteeing the health, well being, and safety of the puppy.

*****PLEASE NOTE PET PURCHASERS REGARDING ADULT SIZE******

The standard size for both Yorkies and Maltese according to AKC is up to 7 pounds. Tiny (4 to 5 1/2 #'s) and Tcup (up to 4 #'s) are terms used by the breeder to help describe the potential size of the dog. I raise all three sizes Standard, Tiny, and Tcups. I do not, however, guarantee the adult size of the puppy you purchase, The size of the parents play a big part in determining the size of their offspring....genetics can over rule. Down sizing for tcups take years of very careful breeding, but the genetic factors can come from many years back. My adult tcups are from many generations of the very small size, they are not the runts of their litter. When trying to determine the potential weight of a puppy as an adult, there is a formula that works well... Multiply the puppies weight at 6 weeks X 3 = usually within ounces, the adult weight. (This formula is NOT a guarantee, especially for the tcups, they can be larger at 6 weeks if the litter was one or two and they were well nourished by the mother. They become more the tcup size as they get older and genetics kick in.)

Also please note that the tcups have been incorrectly labeled as being unhealthy. I believe this comes from breeders that sell the "runt of the litter" as a tcup, in this case the health can be an issue. This is why it is so important to know and see the size of the parents as well as the size of the other puppies in the litter. (Make sure you trust your breeder)

I do recommend that a tcup size puppy remain with the breeder for 10 to 12 weeks in order to make sure the sugar level is not a issue. The smaller pups are at higher risk of hypoglycemia (refer to my link (hypoglycemia.htm) that usually subsides @ 12 weeks. Sometimes the relocation of the pup can cause stress that induces a sugar drop and it can be harmful to the puppy...sometimes fatal. Waiting for the pup to mature is a better situation for both the breeder and the new owner. Therefore the breeder needs to monitor the smaller puppies a bit closer before relocating them and consider keeping them longer than 8 weeks. (The Virginia state law requires the breeder to keep a puppy for at least 8 weeks and one vaccination given before relocating).

When viewing the pictures of the puppies please keep in mind that the photo's were taken close-up as to allow you a better view of their features. This will sometimes make the puppy appear larger. If the weight of the puppy is not provided this simply means they were not yet six weeks old at the time of the photo.
